The rod mill outlet upgrade, Phase 2 of the multi-phase upgrade, was successfully commisioned in the fall of 2016. The Evraz team visited the Russula workshop in A Coruña Spain, for the factory acceptance test in August, 2016. During their visit, all of the electrical equipment was inspected in detail prior to shipment. Thorough funcionality tests of the programming and HMI were performed for the shear and the rest of the rod mill equipment.
The startup schedule was reviewed during the Factory Acceptance Test. At the beginning of October, the I/O wiring was accomplished while the mill was in production. The Russula team arrived one day prior to the shutdown to assist during the commissioning. During an 10-day outage at the end of the month, the electrical and automation equipment was successfully upgraded. The rod outlet returned to production on November 7th, 2016.
