Russula, a full-service and equipment supplier of long product rolling mills, and Scientific Forming Technologies Corporation (SFTC), provider of engineering software DEFORM®, have announced a collaboration agreement. The companies are collaborating on projects for bar and section mills, specifically in the rolling of heavy sections, wide flats, unequal and equal angles, oval to round progressions and multi-slitting.
What started off as a joint project at one of our customers’ mills has developed into a strong collaborative partnership. As we take on projects growing in size and complexity, it’s important to have a strong partner such as SFTC to simulate rolling conditions accurately in a virtual environment.
Keith Fiorucci, Managing Director of Russula in North America
DEFORM® is based on nonlinear, transient, finite-element modeling (FEM) with fully automatic and optimized remeshing. Die fill, forming load, defects, grain flow and other critical parameters can be easily predicted, saving time and investment in hard tooling.
The collaboration with Russula has helped us take a robust tool and make it even stronger for the bar mill industry, something that would not have happened without the collaborative spirit of us all working together.
Kyle Roberts, Research Scientist at STFC
Russula is committed to optimizing the efficiency, safety, environmental sustainability and reliability of its customers operations. By working in close cooperation with customers and other stakeholders, the company is able to offer a diverse portfolio of solutions to help overcome the rolling challenges that confront modern mills today.
